Alfreda "Freda" Adiletto, age 81, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2026, at Citrus Hospice House in Lecanto Fl, surrounded by her loving family.
Freda was born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Alfred and Helen (Dehel) Szalwinski on August 16, 1944. Graduating from John W. Hallahan Catholic High School. She remained on the East Coast until age 40, eventually making her way to Louisville, Ky.
Freda worked for companies such as John Wannamaker, JC Penny, and Citi/SEARS with a strong work ethic, sharp mind and attention to detail that helped to create a national policy change. Her passions were her friends and family, being loyal and true, she maintained friendships that spanned her lifetime. She was a devoted and encouraging mother and grandmother, joyfully present and supportive for all life events. Often a caring sister, keeping close bonds with her siblings and holding her brother and sister's hand at the hour of their transition. She was a devout Catholic, and a loyal parishioner of Epiphany Catholic Church while living in Louisville. Tithing regularly and volunteering her time and talents to her church, work events, nursing homes and with children at the YMCA afterschool program, allowing people to feel seen and heard. She dedicated her life to loving the Lord and Mother Mary. And was inspired by them during prayer to Foster a child. Freda fostered 2 children to the point of adoption, one being an infant and the other a child with special needs.
Her sense of adventure, lightheartedness and can-do spirit were infectious. She was a world traveler and remained a curious explorer. Freda was also a captivating storyteller and made you feel a part of the life she lived and was living. She wanted you to feel included and alive. Freda also loved teaching people how to play card games to entertain and strengthen their mind. Her legacy is not over while her friends and family still have their stories to share. She will be sincerely missed.
Freda is survived by her loving daughters Lisa Adiletto and Lori Adiletto (John Mulcahy) and devoted grandchildren John III, Grace and Anna (Mulcahy) as well as her brother Stephen (Joan Ann) Szalwinski, sister Alice Szalwinska, sister-in-law Beverly Szalwinski and brother-in-law Ed Webb and many caring nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents Alfred and Helen, siblings, infant Alfred, Frank, Joseph, Helen Tidd and Mary "Tina" Webb.
Kentucky Visitation will be held on Tuesday July 21st, at Epiphany Church, 914 Old Harrods Creek Rd., Louisville, Ky at 10:00 AM, Service to follow at 11:00.
Pennsylvania Visitation/Service will be held at St. Joseph's Church, 338 Manor Avenue, Downingtown PA date and time to be determined.
In lieu of flowers please plant a tree in her honor.
