Carmen Delia Hernández nació el 11 de agosto de 1938 en Río Piedras, Puerto Rico. Ella era la hija mayor de Juana Hernández pero se crió con su abuela, y Francisca Santana que ella adoraba junto con sus tías y tíos. Durante ese tiempo ella descubrió que tenía un talento natural para los números. Su tío, Pablo Hernández que se convirtió en un contador y utilizó sus talentos en el servicio de cuentas para corporaciones como González Padín, una tienda muy importante en Puerto Rico. Poco después de graduarse de la escuela secundaria, se mudó a Hartford, Connecticut para vivir con su madre para compartir tiempo con sus hermanos y hermanas. Fue allí donde conoció a su esposo y compañero de vida Gilberto Valentin. Años más tarde creó un hogar en Nueva Jersey, donde dedicó su vida a su esposo hijos. Carmen crió a cuatro hijos, Gilberto Jr., Dennis, Marcos y Marisol, dándoles las herramientas necesarias para triunfar en la vida. Carmen aún tenía tiempo para trabajar como costurera y luego al mismo en una empresa de alquiler de uniforme. Durante su permanencia en Domestic Linen Supply and Laundry Company, sus cualidades de liderazgo se reconocieron y la llevó a ser promovido como una Supervisora de Área. Ella ganó innumerables premios de liderazgo de excelencia por su servicio antes de retirarse en 2004. Carmen se trasladó con su esposo a Spring Hill, Florida, para compartir su tiempo con sus amigos y familia. Era un período de descanso muy bien merecido para Carmen. En el 2010 sufrió una enfermedad, pero nunca se recuperó completamente. Consecuencias llevo a su muerte el 1 de enero de 2015. Ella deja un legado de amor, compasión y una familia de cuatro nietas, dos nietos y un bisnieto. Carmen será extrañado por todos. ****** ************** ****** Carmen Delia Hernandez was born on August 11, 1938 in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico. She was the oldest daughter of Juana Melendez but grew up with her grandmother, “Francisca Santana” who she adored together with her aunts and uncles. During that time she discovered that she had a natural talent for numbers. Her uncle, “Pablo Hernandez” who became an accountant, utilized her talents in servicing accounts for such corporations as González Padín, a major department store in Puerto Rico. Shortly after graduating high school, she moved to Hartford, Connecticut to live with her mother and share time with her brothers and sisters. It was there that she met her husband and life partner Gilberto Valentin. Years later she set up home in New Jersey where she dedicated her life to husband and family. Carmen raised four children, Gilberto Jr., Dennis, Marcos and Marisol, giving them the tools they needed to succeed in life. Carmen still had time to work as a seamstress and then the same at a Uniform Rental company. During her tenure at Domestic Linen Supply and Laundry Company, Her leadership qualities were recognized which led to her being promoted as an Area Supervisor. She won countless leadership awards of excellence for her service at Domestic Linen before retiring in 2004. Carmen moved with her husband to Spring Hill, Florida to sharing time with friends and family awaiting a well-deserved restful period. In 2010 she suffered illness but never fully recovered. Consequences led to her passing on January 1st, 2015. She leaves a legacy behind of love, compassion and an extended family of four granddaughters, 2 grandsons and one great grandson. Carmen will be missed by all she touched. Visitation will be at on Monday, January 5, from 7:00-9:00PM at Pinecrest Funeral Chapel on Mariner Boulevard. A wake service will be conducted at 7:00PM. A funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, January 6, 8:45AM at Victorious Life Church, County Line Road, Spring Hill. Interment will follow at Brooksville Cemetery.
