Spring Hill

Cathleen Reilly Johnson, 61, of Springhill, Florida, formerly of Salamanca, New York, passed away on October 30, 2026 at home under the care of Hospice, surrounded by her loving husband and family, after a long and courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis.

Born March 3, 1965 in Olean, New York, she was the daughter of the late Barbara Reilly. In August of 2008, she was given a second chance at life when she was gifted a kidney from her sister Angela, a gift for which she considered her second birthday and which she stated “she would be forever in her debt for.” Angela, your courageous gift is one that the family can never thank you enough for. Because of you, we were given another 18 years with her and this is something words can never explain our gratitude for.

She married Lon Charles Johnson on May 9, 1997 in the Town of Salamanca, New York, who survives. They were married for 29 loving years, blending two households into one and calling Salamanca their home before packing up to Florida in search of sunshine and no snow.

Cathleen was a 1983 graduate of Olean High School. She went on to study cosmetology after high school. She was employed at various businesses in the Olean and Salamanca area, her most recent being as a cook at The Clinton Restaurant in Salamanca. Her family is going to miss her Lebanese cuisine that she enjoyed making for everyone, especially her fatayer and stuffed grape leaves.

She loved spending time with friends and family, especially the time she got to spend with her sons and grandchildren. Prior to her move to Florida, she enjoyed music, socializing with her best friends, and shopping with her daughters. Cathleen was an avid collector of anything pigs, sugar skulls, and angels- items her family will see and always think of her.

Surviving in addition to her devoted and loving husband are: a brother, Frank (Whitney) Reilly of Texas; four sisters, Angela (Matthew) Fleming of Maryland, Cynthia (Edward) Beatty of Olean, Edna (Scott) Pauly of Owego, and Kelly (Timothy) Gathers of Georgia; two sons, Anthony (Silvia) of Olean, Adam (Shaelyn) of Virginia; two daughters, Kayla (Joshua) of Salamanca, Cortney (Bradley) of Salamanca; three grandchildren, Liam, Raegan, and Lennox; nephews, Blayne, Brandon, Jacob, Mason, and Maddox; nieces, Barbara, Elida, Kayla, Courtney, Leah, Reilly, and Londyn; several cousins, great nephews, great nieces, and friends. A special thank you to her loving and caring friends and neighbors: Tim, Sandy, Mike, Tina, and Alan for being there for her and her husband especially during the last few months of her life.

There will be no services at this time. A celebration of life will be held in New York at a day and time to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made online to the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America at engage.mymsaa.org or by using the link below.
