Christina Mary Burke

Christina Mary Burke, 78, of Spring Hill, Florida, peacefully passed away in the early hours of November 8, 2023, surrounded by the love of her cherished family. Christina was born on July 19, 1945, to John and Mary Beatty in Tullamore, County Offaly, Ireland.

After graduating, Christina moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where she met the love of her life, Michael J. Burke (County Mayo, Ireland). Last month, they celebrated their 58th anniversary, as they were married in 1965.

Survived by her husband, Michael and six children, Kevin and wife, Fiona; daughters Fiona and Deirdre; and youngest sons Brian and wife, Regina; Niall; and Pat and wife, Peyton.  

Christina was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Beatty, and her youngest sister, Carmel Gavin (husband Eamon). She is survived by her sister, Catherine Quigley (husband Brendan), extended family and much loved nieces and nephews across the globe.

Christina pursued her calling for healthcare ultimately becoming a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) and served as an RN at Cape Coral Hospital.  Christina then dedicated herself to a 15 year career with Hospice, providing compassionate care to those in their most vulnerable moments. She understood the importance of bringing comfort and solace to those in need, and her work at Hospice was a testament to her kindness and empathy.

In addition to her professional pursuits, Christina was deeply involved in Irish heritage clubs both in Fort Myers and Cleveland. She celebrated her roots and shared her love for Irish culture with those around her.

Christina found her greatest source of joy to be her family. She treasured her role as a mother and grandmother, pouring love and warmth into their lives. Christina was a natural-born artist with a passion for painting, knitting, and baking. Her favorite canvases were the moments she shared with her 14 adored grandchildren: Ryan, Connor, Katie, Devin, Megan, Graceson, Sadler, Nieve,  Caitlin, Brendan, John, Lily, Harper, and Evan. Her recent pride and joy was spending time with the newest family member, her only great-grandchild, Liam.

A celebration of life will be held December 16, 2023 with a Mass at 11:00am at St. Frances X. Cabrini Catholic Church, located at 5030 Mariner Blvd, Spring Hill, FL 34609.  A reception will follow in Spring Hill, Florida.

Christina will always be remembered for her boundless love for her husband and family, her dedication to her patients, and her commitment to preserving her Irish heritage. We'll always imagine hearing her say "See you again soon, God willing" one more time. We couldn't have asked for a more loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. We will cherish Christina's memory every day. Her love will forever echo in the hearts of all those who were blessed to be part of her life.
