Daniel Young

December 17, 1933 — December 22, 2021

Daniel Young passed peacefully on December 22nd at his Florida home with his lovely wife, Sandy, at his side. Born on December 17th,1933 at Pontiac General Hospital in Pontiac, Michigan, he was the son of William MacGregor and Martha Jane Young. Dan is the youngest brother of the late Donald, Hugh, Calvin and William Young. Often referred to as “Danny”, he was in the first graduation class at Waterford Township High School in the class of 1951. Dan joined the Navy in 1953 and served as a clerk typist at the JAG office in Norfolk, Virginia. The Navy invited him to attend law school, but he decided to leave the Navy to pursue options in the private sector. He married Beverly and started a family. Dan’s career started as a draftsman for Detroit Broach & Machine Company in Rochester, MI, moved into sales and eventually started his own company as a sales representative for broach companies. As an avid hunter and fisherman, he was very active at the Multi Lakes Conversation Club in Commerce Township, Michigan where he competed regularly in skeet and trap tournaments. He served as president of the club in 1969 and was often seen in the kitchen on Friday nights frying fish for the weekly fish fry. His goal was to retire early and build a house in northern Michigan. He retired in his 50s and found his dream location on the banks of Lake Huron in Greenbush, Michigan where he built his home overlooking the lake. Although he spent winters in Florida, the lake house in Michigan was where he felt at home, watching the sunrise, walking the beach, roasting marshmallows, etc. After being single for almost 25 years, Dan met and married Sandra Johnson, the love of his life and soul mate. He always called Sandy his “angel”. They were always holding hands. They loved to dance, go on bus trips, and often cruised the Caribbean. They were inseparable, sharing their time between Michigan in the summers and Florida in the winters. Dan will be surely missed and is survived by his wife, Sandra Johnson, his three the beach he so loved where his ashes will remain forever. children Katherine Clifton, Brian Young, and Kevin Young, along with 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. A celebration of life campfire will be held later this year on
