David William Fagan

David (“Bill”) William Fagan lived a vibrant and enriching life, full of travel and adventures, cherished friendships, loving family, and his beloved furry companions. He passed away on April 6, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, generosity and stories that will last for generations.

Born in 1944 in Pittsburgh, PA, Bill grew up with his two siblings, Barbara Gersey (Bob) and Mary Beth Geiken, before moving to Lombard, IL. He married and had two children, Patrick (Vickie) and Kelly, whom he raised in the Chicago suburbs before relocating to the Tampa Bay area in the early 1990s. Bill was a proud Florida resident until his passing, living in Brooksville with his devoted partner of 6 years, Mary Kay Sandell. His four grandchildren, Kristy (Levi) Yvars, Melissa (Oliver) Buckle, Sean (Mercedes) Fagan, and Brittaney Fagan and four great-granddaughters (Fara, Lexi, Skyla and Maya) were a source of endless joy and pride for him.  Bill was also a father figure to his niece and nephews, who looked up to him with admiration.

Bill had a long career that lasted all his life; one of which he was extremely proud.  He had an amazing entrepreneurial sense and was always thinking of his next start-up business; his own personal “Shark Tank”.  From selling Salerno cookies and shoes in his early days, to lift trucks and ultimately trash compactors and mortgages, Bill always reinvented the art of selling.   Even in his final days Bill was asking his children, grandchildren and nephews about their work life and career goals.  Business savvy made him happy!

Throughout his life, Bill was an active member of his community, volunteering his time and talents to various local organizations and serving on boards. Whether it was the Jaycees, Chambers of Commerce, or community boards, he was always planning an event or looking for ways to raise funds. His selflessness and dedication were recognized earlier this year when he was named the 2022 Man of the Year by the Brookridge Mens Club. When he wasn't busy giving back, Bill enjoyed spending time with his friends over coffee, immersing himself in thrilling novels, and indulging in sweets.

As his family and loved ones mourn his passing, they remember Bill for the kindness and spirited adventure he exuded throughout his life. They ask that he be celebrated for the joy and positivity he brought to the world, not the sadness of his departure. A Celebration of Life in honor of Bill will be held on May 20, 2023, between 12pm – 4pm at the Brookridge Community Club House in Brooksville, FL.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making donations to your local animal shelter, as Bill had a deep love for his Labradors and Golden Retrievers.
