Diane Pettit, lovingly remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, was born on December 11, 1948, in Saratoga Springs, New York. In later years, she made her home in Spring Hill, Florida, where she enjoyed a life filled with family, conversation, and treasured routines. She was the cherished daughter of the late Raymond and Laura “Betty” Crandall of Saratoga Springs.
Diane grew up in Saratoga Springs and attended Saratoga Springs High School, graduating with the Class of 1966. Shortly thereafter, she married the love of her life, Ronald S. Pettit, in 1967. Together, they built a life rooted in love, family, and lasting memories.
Diane dedicated many years of her professional life to serving her community. She worked at AT&T customer service stores in Albany and later as a relay operator for AT&T. She also held a position at Adirondack Trust Bank on Broadway, where she was known for her reliability and warm, welcoming presence.
For the past several years, Diane faced ALS with remarkable strength, grace, and resilience, supported by the love of her family. Even through her illness, her spirit, kindness, and devotion to those she loved never wavered.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Ronald S. Pettit; her daughter, Melissa C. Salmon, and her husband, Thomas; and her son, Ronald S. Pettit Jr., and his wife, Jolonna; and her “adopted daughter,” Saron Congdon (Klender), and her husband, Scott.
Diane was a proud and loving grandmother to her six grandchildren: Nicolette Melucci (Salmon), Alexandra Duers (Thompson), Charles Salmon, Bresney Pettit, Kaitlyn Congdon, and Reagan Pettit, and was blessed with eight great-grandchildren: Isabella, Blake, Julian, Logan, Scarlette, Lila, Amelia, Archibald.
She is also survived by her sister, Deneen Goddard, and was predeceased by her brother, Donald Crandall.
Diane found joy in life’s simple and meaningful pleasures. She loved dancing the night away, having wonderful conversations, reading books, completing crossword puzzles, swimming in her pool, and walking along the beach. Her warmth, laughter, and deep love for her family will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.
A Celebration of Life will be held on July 10th, where family and friends will gather to honor Diane’s life and share cherished memories.
