Donald Harold Chasey

Spring Hill, Fl – Donald H. Chasey, 87 years of age, passed away Wednesday Morning April 8th, 2026, at home.

Don was born in Dansville, NY February 16th, 1939, the son of Harold and Marion (Brock) Chasey. Don grew up and was raised in Dansville, graduating from Dansville High School in 1958. After high school Don began his career at FA Owens Publishing/Dansville/Wilcox press. He loved being involved with the Union Hose, playing softball, and playing golf at Brae Burn whenever possible. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. If you were looking for him in the fall, he was in the woods. Above all else Don loved Dansville and raising his family there. He never missed a game or any activity that involved his boys. Don’s loud whistle could be heard during games and was well known to parents and players alike.

Don and Barbara Fleck were married August 22, 1964, in Dansville NY and together celebrated 61 years of marriage. Don and Barb lived and raised their children in Dansville until 1990 when they moved to Spring Hill, FL to start their second act together. Their permanent residence has been there ever since.

After moving to Florida, Don traded in his life as a supervisor at Dansville Press for one of working outside. He started Chasey’s Lawn Service and loved his work. In Florida, Don purchased a boat and spent many weekends on the water. Don brought to Florida his joy of life and his love of meeting new people and making friends. He carried a belief in always helping people and trying to make an impact whether that was through laughter or random acts of kindness. He carried that through with his love of his grandchildren. Always trying to be involved and always trying to make them laugh. Don was a devout catholic and that foundation helped to mold and carry him through life. He loved life, his family, his friends and no matter where he was, he always tried to make people laugh.

Don was predeceased by his father, Harold Chasey and his Mother Marion (Frank) Brock; his grandfather Ray Harold Chasey and his grandmother Pearl Taylor; his brother Richard E Chasey and his nephew John R Chasey. He is survived by his wife Barbara Chasey, his children Raymond (Janice) Chasey of Orlando, Fl, Timothy (Lauren) Chasey of Charlotte, NC, Michael (Tina) Chasey of Rochester, NY, and his grandchildren Gideon Chasey, Logan Chasey, Brock Chasey.
