Douglas Joseph Kennedy

Douglas Joseph Kennedy ("Doug"), 72, of Spring Hill, Florida, formerly of Milford, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2026, surrounded by his family and loved ones. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose presence, kindness, and unwavering faith will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Doug was born in New Haven, Connecticut, on March 1, 1954 to William and Betty Kennedy.

Doug dedicated many years to serving his community at the USPS along with working at the Milford Pub and Cinema and also a volunteer firefighter for the city of Milford. Never one to stop caring for others, he began a second career after retirement as a preschool teacher, where his gentle spirit, patience, and playful nature made him a favorite among the children. A child at heart, Doug found joy in the simple things. He had a lifelong love of Looney Tunes, and collecting dragon statues, interests that reflected his imagination, sense of wonder, and playful spirit.

Above all, Doug was a devoted non-denominational Christian whose faith was the foundation of his life. He loved the Lord deeply and sought to serve God through his words, his actions, and the kindness he showed to everyone he met. His unwavering faith, compassionate heart, and joyful spirit will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Doug was preceded in death by Christine Kennedy, and is survived by his beloved wife, Lori Kennedy; his children, Joseph Kennedy (Raylynn) and Caroline Kennedy; his stepchildren, Michael Williston(Jessica) and Jeffrey Williston(Robyn); his siblings, Rod Kennedy, William Kennedy, George Kennedy, and Melody Kennedy; his grandchildren, John McFadden, Takoda McFadden, Kelsey Williston, Grace Kennedy, Taylor Wilmott, Jacob Kennedy, and Cayleigh Williston; and his great-grandson, Jacob Vanderveen.

Doug's greatest legacy was not measured by his career or accomplishments, but by the love he gave, the people whose lives he touched, the faith he lived each day, and the family he cherished. He will be remembered for his gentle heart, warm smile, playful spirit, and steadfast devotion to God. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
