Frank Paul Krovisky

August 10, 1939 — March 5, 2019

Frank passed away from ALS on March 5, 2019 at age 79. His courage, determination and humor remained despite his progressively degenerative disease. His strength comforted others who struggled with their own adjustments adapting to his illness.

Born August 10, 1939 in Midland, PA to Joseph and Frances (Waida) Krovisky, he was immediately dubbed "Pinky", a nickname that stuck with him throughout life alongside the Krovisky tradition of unswerving dedication to family. In time his renegade side appeared: he was a long-suffering Dallas Cowboy fan in a family of committed Pittsburgh Steelers.

During the more responsible period of Frank's life he acquired a bachelor’s degree in meteorology; master’s in education and in counseling. He attained the rank of Captain in the US Air Force and was stationed in several stateside locations and overseas in Greenland, Turkey and Italy before retiring after 21 years of service. He then held Senior Executive Human Resource positions at Hoffman-LaRoche Pharmaceutical and Active International. He dedicated the remainder of his life to yet more world travel adventures, annual cross-country treks to see his boys, always searching out the best things in life and squeezing the most out of them -- a more robust wine, the hottest low-limit craps table, best BBQ dive, the chocolatiest dessert, but most of all, sharing these experiences with his best friend and wife, Nancy. Interwoven amid this was skiing big mountains, moving and remodeling, and trips for collecting fine wines. He was generous with his help, sharing wisdom, love and his hallmark hugs.

In retirement he honed his cooking skills, the major component being the quest for the finest ingredients - a minimum of three grocery stores, plus finding the freshest U-Pick crop and making the rounds of his favorite veggie ladies usually for tomatoes and corn. He found great joy in cooking for both family and crowds. If indeed food is love, he exploded with love. The disease of ALS limited Frank's body but not his appetite; he instructed his best caregiver, Denise, in preparing meals, which he consumed with the same commitment as food acquisition and prep.

Pinky is survived by his wife, Nancy; his sons Mark (Beth) of Steamboat Springs, CO, Matthew (Christine) and favorite grandson, Parker of Bend, OR. His brother Joseph of Savannah, GA; sister Patricia of Bluffton, SC; and niece Jennifer of Matteson, IL.

Frank's mass will be held at Saint Theresa Catholic Church, 1107 Commercial Way, Spring Hill, FL, on Wednesday, March 27 at 2:30pm. Interment with military honors will be in Bay Pines National Cemetery, 10000 Bay Pines Boulevard, St. Petersburg, FL on Thursday, March 28 at 1:30pm.
