James Edmond (Jim) Stanina
On Wednesday, May 13, 2015, after a brief illness, James Edmond (Jim) Stanina passed away amid the love and support of his wife, Victoria Conklin and family. Jim was born in New York City on October 8, 1948 and grew up in New Jersey. He became a resident of Hernando County in 1978 and devoted his life to his family, his career as a banker, and to his community. Jim is survived by his wife, Victoria Conklin, his son Matthew Stanina and wife Alicia and his daughter Alyson and husband Erick Truong. Jim also leaves his younger brothers and their wives Jerry and Sue of Pinellas Park; John and Rita of Spring Hill, Bob and Kathy of Spring Hill, his grandsons Austin and Ayden Stanina; and his stepson Charles Conklin and wife Kim.
Jim's contributions to Hernando County include but certainly are not limited to his work as Vice Chairman of the Hernando County Housing Authority and his role in establishing the Hernando County YMCA. As a bank professional, Jim was a prominent leader and mentor to many. As a patriot and citizen, his compassion for others was a theme throughout his entire life.
Services to honor and celebrate Jim's life will be held on Friday, May 22, 2015 at 5:30 p.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 6193 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill, Florida. A dinner will follow at the church to celebrate Jim's inspiring life.
