James Bradley Vowell, 69, of Spring Hill, Florida, passed away on Saturday, August 15th 2026. Born in Flint, Michigan, on March 18, 1957, James was raised in Flint and moved to Florida in 1977, where he met his wife, Debra, and raised his family. He lived in Florida until moving to Olathe, Kansas, in 2008, then moved back to Florida in 2014, where he spent the last chapter of his life living with his son.
James was a man of faith, character, and strength who believed in working hard, doing his best, and treating people the right way. In his younger days, he enjoyed bowling and played a mean game of pool. He also enjoyed hanging out on the porch with his friends, watching old Westerns, and watching loud TV. More than anything, James loved his family and the people who became a part of his life.
James had a way of leaving an impression on the people whose paths crossed his path with his gentleness and steadiness. He understood that being a good man did not require recognition or praise, but was shown through the way a person lived, the way he treated others, and the things he was willing to do for the people he loved. Through both the good times and the difficult ones, James continued forward with strength, resilience, and a heart that those closest to him will never forget. His legacy will live on in his family, in the people whose lives he touched, and in the lessons and memories he leaves behind.
James is survived by his son, Michael Everette Vowell, of Spring Hill; his daughter, Lynda Cherie Lacy, of Lawrence, Kansas; and the love of his life, Debra Ann Vowell, of Spring Hill, Florida; his grandchildren, Bryanna Siebels, Christina Lacy, Makayla Barrett, Noah Barrett, and Amber Lacy; his siblings, Paula Curns, Kevin Vowell, Curtis Vowell, Robyn Vowell, Lisa Leclair, and Mark Vowell; his best bud, Blake Burton; and his many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends who loved him deeply. He was preceded in death by his son, Bryan Jacob Lacy; his nephew, Bradley Everette Burton; and his brothers-in-law, Ronald Curns and Joseph Burton.
He will be greatly missed. His family will carry his memory, his lessons, and his love with them always, until they are together again
