JEANETTE HARVEY

April 29, 1938 — November 6, 2012

Jeanette Lawlor Harvey, 74, of Patten, Maine and Brooksville, Florida passed away in Florida on November 6, 2012 after a courageous one year battle with MDS Leukemia. She was born on April 29, 1938 in Island Falls, ME to William and Merle (Sherman) Lawlor. Jeanette grew up on the family farm in the hills of Oakfield, ME. She graduated from Oakfield Community High School and the University of Maine at Orono with a B.S. in education. On June 26, 1960 Jeanette married Wallace Harvey, moved to Patten and began her teaching career. She taught school for 35 years at Island Falls High School, Patten Academy and Katahdin High School while raising her family. Jeanette enjoyed many years of retirement doing her favorite things: playing golf and bridge, reading, lunching with friends, working on many community projects, and spending time with her family. She was a member and past president of the Patten Women's Club; past board member of the Katahdin Valley Health Center; Governor of the Upper St. John Valley Sr. Ladies Golf Association at VaJoWa; member and past secretary of the Ladies 18 Hole Golf Association at Brookridge Golf and Country Club; and board member of the Oakfield Community High School Alumni Association. Jeanette is survived by Wallace, her loving and devoted husband of 52 years. Also surviving are her three daughters, Tracy Nantel and her husband Bob of Biddeford, ME; Jill Starrett and her husband Craig of Belfast, ME; and Carmen Hartt and her husband Rick of Glenville, NY; her grandchildren Cassandra Hartt, Grant Starrett, Marisa Hartt, Jeffrey Boisvert, Bob Nantel, Jr., and Jennifer Nantel; her siblings Kenneth Lawlor and his wife Belen, Kathleen Boutilier, Bill Lawlor and his wife Harriet, sister-in-law Marlene Lawlor; and several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Jeanette was predeceased by her parents, her sister Theodate Swallow, her brother Gene Lawlor, and brother-in-law Everett Boutilier. A memorial service will be held at 5PM on Sunday, November 11, 2012 at the Brookridge Country Club Pro Shop at 8161 Hampton St., Brooksville, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Veteran's Memorial Library, PO Box 695, Patten, ME 04765 or the Lafayette Family Cancer Center, 33 Whiting Hill Rd., Brewer, ME 04412.
