John Sharon Cornell Jr

John Cornell, age 78, passed away on October 4, 2026, at Tampa General Hospital Brooksville Florida.

Born and raised in Chester PA, he was the son of the late John and Helen (Latham) Cornell. He is survived by his wife Patty Cornell (Bauer), his stepdaughter Sharon Miller and her two children, his sister the late Jean Blaier (Werner), his brother Ronnie Cornell (Sandra), as well as several nieces and nephews.

After serving in Vietnam, John settled in Claymont Delaware where he resided for over 45 years. He enjoyed camping, taking his boat out, riding his motorcycle, meeting with his brother and the “fellas” at the park to sing, and he could dance like no other while listening to Bruno Mars. John loved to watch drag racing, he never missed watching an Eagles or Phillies game, and he never met a stranger. John retired to Weeki Wachee Florida with his wife Patty, where they have lived for the last nine years.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 9, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at First United Methodist of Homosassa, 8831 W Bradshaw St. Homosassa Fl., followed by lunch in Fellowship Hall.

In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s memory may be made to The Humane Society of the Nature Coast, where John adopted his two beloved dogs, Mya and his “boy” Mac at 7200 Mobley Rd. Brooksville Fl. 34601 or humanerescue.org.
