John Henry Wood, Jr. of Spring Hill, FL, and formerly Ringwood, NJ, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2026, five years to the date after his son John Henry, III passed. Jack was born on July 26, 1938 at Lutheran Hospital in Brooklyn, NY. After attending St. John’s, Jack joined the US Army. Jack’s career spanned decades in the automobile business working in OH, NY, NJ, and finally retiring in FL.

Jack was the eternal entertainer regaling stories for anyone who would listen. He was an exceptional cook, avid history reader, and loved to do The NY Times crossword puzzle in ink. He loved Saturday morning cartoons, Smurf berry pancakes, the NY Giants, Brooklyn Dodgers, and NY Yankees. He taught his kids to fish, to appreciate fine china, to have faith in God, and that if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say it at all.

Jack is survived by his wife of 56 years, Elizabeth, his son Eric Wood, his daughters Elizabeth (Patrick) Bernabe and Catherine Wood; his sisters Jeanne (Gus) Orphanides, Victoria Crotty, and his brother Alan Wood; his grandchildren Charles Toepfer, John Wood, IV, Michael Toepfer, Daniel Bernabe, Ryan Wood, Emily Toepfer, and William Bernabe; and several nieces and nephews. Jack was predeceased by his mother and stepfather Eleanor and Anthony Maulucci, his father John Wood, Sr., and his beloved son John Wood, III.Above all else, Jack treasured family, especially his grandchildren, and always talked about how proud he was of them. He will now cheer them on from his front row seat in Heaven.
