Johnny Ralph Erwin

October 5, 1946 — January 10, 2024

Brooksville

John Erwin, age 77, died Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at Sturgill Hospice House in Brooksville, Florida, after several months of Home Hospice care. The most heartfelt thanks go to the kind and diligent Hospice team who have provided support to John and his family since June! John will be remembered as a kind and loving person who devoted his life to serving others in his role as elder in the Christian Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He shared in the ministry starting at an early age with his beloved grandmother who raised him. In his late teens John volunteered to work at the World Headquarters of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Brooklyn, New York. He was assigned to a local congregation in the Bronx where he met the love of his life. The marriage of 56 years was blessed with two sons and one grandson. John enjoyed many avenues of volunteer service: member of the Tampa Hospital Liaison Committee which was involved in establishing the Bloodless Surgery Center at Tampa General Hospital; Patient Visitation Group who provided comfort to patients and families; Rooming Overseer for annual conventions; volunteer on many disaster relief and construction projects including the Plant City Assembly Hall and many Kingdom Halls in Florida. John was a firm believer in a resurrection to a future paradise earth as alluded to in the Lord’s Prayer that God’s Will be done on earth. His family and friends look forward to welcoming him and other deceased family members and friends back in the future earthly Paradise based on Job 14:14, 15: “If a man dies, can he live again? … You [God] will call, and I will answer you.”
