Joseph Robert Cheverino

November 8, 1941 — August 26, 2025

Spring Hill

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather Joseph Cheverino. He left us peacefully at the age of 83 on August 26, 2025. He is survived by his loving, devoted wife Anne of 46 years, his four children Theresa (Ralph), JoAnne (Bruce d. 3-11-16), Lucille (Dino), Joseph (Allison), and his five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

He was greeted in heaven by his daughter Donna, his parents Frank and Lucy and his brothers, William, David, and Michael; who he is now reunited with.

His love for his wife knew no bounds. As a father he was fiercely protective, supportive, and very proud of his children.

One of his greatest passions was cooking. He was an excellent chef who loved sharing his meals with others. His culinary talents were well known in the community and he often volunteered at the Moose Lodge and Elks club. His generosity was recognized and appreciated by many and he received several awards for his volunteer work in the kitchen. His delicious meals brought people together and filled as many hearts as it did stomachs.

He was a man of many talents, a true craftsman with and extraordinary knack for working with his hands. One of his greatest joys was the 54 cruises that he enjoyed with his family and friends. His knowledge, especially in trivia never ceased to amaze us.

The love and admiration he showed for his wife and children will live on in each of them, as will his legacy of hard work, creativity, and devotion. His love will be forever present in our hearts and memories. He will be loved and missed by all who knew him.

                                      DAD

For now it’s time to say goodbye to a loving husband and dad

Who fought fearlessly and courageously and gave it everything he had.

He was met with multiple obstacles but took them all in stride

He faced them all head on with Anne, who never left his side.

We always knew this day would come yet thought it would be a long time away

But his words to us were, I don’t want to leave you, but I simply cannot stay.

He said I’ll always be with you as he placed his hand over his heart

I will live on in each of you even though we are apart.

The tears are never ending, our pain we cannot hide

It’s hard to imagine our lives without him, there’s an overwhelming emptiness inside.

We’ve lost the patriarch of our family, its left us in disbelief

Our hearts are truly broken, our sorrow knows no relief.

But we can’t allow his illness to overshadow the beautiful life he led

Because he was so loved and respected, we will honor the man he was instead.

In his nearly 84 years he lived his life to the fullest extent

Surrounded by family and friends, it’s what kept his life content.

He was blessed with five children, four girls and a boy

Who he loved and adored deeply, we were his pride and joy.

A piece of his heart went to heaven on the sixth of May

When his beautiful daughter, Donna went to the Lord that day.

He showed us what it was to be loved, protected, and guided and brought us comfort till the end

He embodied the true essence of a father, a mentor, and a friend.

He instilled in us strong values and we will pass his legacy on

To his grandchildren and great grandchildren and the generations beyond.

But there was also another love of his life

Our beautiful stepmom Anne, his amazing wife.

They shared a love that most will never know

For 48 years, it was always Anne and Joe.

She brought a light to his spirit for nearly 50 years

They loved and supported each other through the happiness and the tears.

For 46 days she never left his side, devoted to his love and care

It brought him such peace and comfort, just knowing she was there.

Theirs was a true love story, a team from beginning to end

And we took comfort in knowing he was in the care of his best friend.

Dad was an extraordinary man who was loved by all his knew

You couldn’t help but love him; his heart was pure and true.

He was loyal and devoted but there was never any doubt

If you crossed him or his family, his Sicilian would come out.

He was always constructing something and was a real craftsman by trade

His hands were truly gifted; he put love in everything he made.

He possessed a quite intellect, his knowledge both vast and wide

It was obvious in all he did; it wasn’t something he could hide.

He put a home gym together when most would require a degree

And he did it with limited directions and did so easily.

He was so handsome and youthful; his age could never be guessed

He was sharp mind, body and spirit; in all three he was completely blessed.

He loved to go on cruises, that really was no news

And we always joked about his one suitcase that was simply for his shoes.

There were so many fun filled cruises with family and friends, a total of 54

And although we shared in most of them, we hoped there would be more.

His knowledge of trivia never ceased to amaze us; his answers were always accurate and quick

And oh the pleasure and joy it brought us when he would win us those little ships on a stick.

His true passion was cooking and it won awards for him rightfully so

He was a culinary expert otherwise known as Chef Joe.

He prepared meals for everyone and volunteered at the Elks and the Moose

Always wearing his apron proudly, whether he cooked for one hundred or two.

We will no longer enjoy one of his delicious meals which saddens us to our core

But we will savor in all the memories that always left us wanting more.

Dad lived life on his own terms and in his passing did the same

Taking responsibility for his own health, so there would be no one else to blame.

He was clear in his promises and choices and made sure his voice was heard

He stayed firm in his decisions, he was truly a man of his word.

So now we reflect back, we’ll try to comprehend

A loss that’s so significant, not even time can mend.

You’re now reunited with Donna; she was there to take you home

She took your hand and led you to all the others that you know.

Though your arms will no longer hold us in a warm and loving embrace

Your angel wings will wrap around us and hug us in their place.

And as we sit under the night sky, we’ll notice that one brightly shining star

And feel your love beaming down on us and guiding us from afar.

Our hearts are broken now, but there will come a time when

We will rejoice in the arms of each other on the day we meet again.

Until that time comes know that you have left our hearts filled with so much love

It will give us strength and courage as you watch over us from above.

Rest in peace our beautiful father; your time here with us brought us such bliss

And while you’re walking on sunshine in heaven, here on earth you’ll be forever loved and missed.

We love you Dad,

Theresa, JoAnne, Lucille and Joseph
