Joseph Edward “Joe” Morrow passed away December 3rd, 2017. He was born July 10th, 1941 in Chicago, the oldest of five children, and spent his childhood in Jacksonville, FL. He earned his Eagle Scout and served the United States Air Force in air defense radar. Earning his Bachelors in Electrical Engineering from Indiana Institute of Technology and an MBA from Indiana University, he enjoyed a career in electrical engineering and purchasing management. He worked 23 years with Magnavox before moving back to Florida in 1993 to continue his career in purchasing management in his home state. He held many offices with numerous organizations most notably the Indiana University Alumni Association (awarded the Ralph E. Broyles Medal in 1993), Magnavox Management Club, and National Association of Purchasing Managers. He was a lifetime member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and served the order as Exalted Ruler, District VP, District Deputy for GER, and volunteered for seven years as kitchen manager. Joe enjoyed golf, reading military history, classical music, and was an avid sports fan.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mary Kay Schenkel, two sons Patrick and Sean, two granddaughters Alyssa and Haley, grand pup Beanie, brothers Larry and Bob Morrow, sister Mary Kathleen “Kathy” Morrow, and numerous nieces and nephews. Proceeded in death by mother Margaret O’Donnell Morrow Lothschultz and baby sister Marcella Jean Morrow.
Services will take place Thursday, December 7th at 10:00am St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 13485 Spring Hill Drive, and will be followed by a celebration of life at Elks Lodge #2582, 13383 County Line Road. Interment will take place at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Elks Harry Anna Trust Fund, PO Box 49, Umatilla, FL 32784.
