Lawrence A. Cohen was born on February 22, 1932, to Sidney Cohen and Birdie Danaman in Nashville, Tennessee. Lawrence, better known as Larry, graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1950, joining the Naval Reserve in Nashville. In January, 1951, he was activated to regular Navy and served in the Korean War on Naval supply ships until 1954, when he was transferred to Quonset Point, Rhode Island.
Larry is a life member of both the VFW and DAV. Larry was proud of his service in the Navy, doing a very responsible job feeding the fleet during his three and a half years in Korea and Japan. Larry was a life member of VFW Nashville post 1970, serving as service officer for 1 year. Larry was in business in Nashville with working with his father, Sidney, and brothers Ralph and J.D. Cohen. After closing the business he relocated to Spring Hill, Florida, where he worked in several businesses before retiring. Shiva for family only will be observed in the home of his daughter, Susie Smith and her husband, Glenn L. Smith. In lieu of flowers, donations in Larry's name are requested for the Lions International Disaster Relief, Greatest Need.
