Lawrence Cornett

CORNETT, Lawrence Jr. (Larry), age 89, passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2015 in Brooksville, Florida. Survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Patricia (Pat), of Brooksville FL; daughter Laurie Cornett Cross, son-in-law Mike Cross and grandsons Max and Joshua Cross, all of Dayton, OH. Also survived by a sister, Billie Jean Hemmert, Jonesborough TN and brothers Jack Cornett, Mountain Home, AR, and Michael Cornett of Berea KY. Larry was born in Bond, KY and raised in Arkansas and Ohio. He was a veteran and served his country as a member of a B-17 bomber crew during WWII. Larry was a former City Council member and Deputy Mayor of Bellbrook, Ohio. He was commissioned a Kentucky Colonel in 1975 in recognition of his public service. He retired as Operations Manager of ARA Food Services in Dayton in 1987 and he and Pat moved from Bellbrook, Ohio to Brooksville, Florida. Preceded in death by sisters Pauline, Inez, Joyce and Helen. Larry’s family and many friends will miss his faith-filled spirit, kind heart, willing smile and sense of humor. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of caregivers at Heron Pointe Health and Rehabilitation Center who took such good care of Larry. Memorial Services will be held Sept. 22, 2015, 2:00PM, at Pinecrest Funeral Chapel, 3369 Mariner Blvd., Spring Hill, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association www.alz.org or your local Salvation Army in Larry’s memory.
