Rand A Burgner was born August 15, 1943 and died December 25, 2025.

He is survived by his wife Lila, of 60 years, sister Jayne, 3 children, Mike, Lori, and Gary, and four grandchildren Natalie, Cassidy, Alex, and Daniil.

Rand was born in the Bronx, then moved to Levittown, NY when he was eight years old. He met his wife at Jones Beach and they married in 1966. Rand received his BA from the Kansas state college in Pittsburg, majoring in History.

Rand was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. He was commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant through ROTC. As part of the Army Signal Corps, Rand’s first assignment was in Asmara, Ethiopia in 1967. His wife accompanied him and their first two children were born in Ethiopia. Rand then volunteered to serve in Vietnam and was attached to the Armored Brigade, 1st Infantry Division. He rose to the rank of Captain while in Vietnam, earning four medals, including the bronze star, before being honorably discharged in 1970.

After the Army, Rand and family settled back in Sayville, NY. Rand went on to have a fulfilling career working in public affairs for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority in New York City until he retired in 1992. He and his wife then moved to Tucson, AZ.

In Tucson, Rand started a second career in financial planning at Equitable and they bought a second home in Poultney, VT to be closer to grandchildren during the summers. In 2005, they became snowbirds from Arizona to Vermont, then they moved from Arizona to Timber Pines golf community in Spring Hill, Florida in 2012.

In Timber Pines, Rand said he found heaven on earth. He loved the country club lifestyle, playing golf, and biking/e-biking. He was a very active community member, especially with the Military Vets club of Timber Pines. His spirit will be with us always and his love forever in our hearts.
