Raymond A. Wing

December 30, 1941 — April 1, 2018

Wing, Raymond A., 76, died after a long illness on April 1, 2018. Mr. Wing was born and raised in Augusta, Maine. He graduated from the University of Maine in 1963, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. Shortly after graduation he was commissioned a 2LT in the U.S. Army. He was Ranger, Airborne, and Special Forces qualified and served 2 1/2 years in Vietnam. Reaching the rank of Major, he was discharged from the service in 1978. Mr. Wing founded two trophy and awards businesses in Augusta and Brunswick, Maine. In 1987 he sold both businesses and semi-retired to Spring Hill, Florida. Finding his life boring, he became a substitute teacher and served as such for five years. He eventually founded Advantage Tax, LLC, which me managed single-handedly and enjoyed the interaction he had with his clients up until his death. He also founded a 501(c)(19) charitable organization whose membership was made up of combat veterans from Vietnam. He named the charity "Sugarmillers" and their mission was to provide for the morale of the members and to educate the general public about their role in Vietnam. Mr. Wing is survived by his wife, Michelle, three daughters, Belinda, from Pensacola, Florida, Britta from Hazel Green, Alabama, Michelle, from Saco, Maine, and one son, Joseph, from Seattle, Washington, sisters, Patricia DuPont, Joyce LaPointe, and is preceded in death by his brother, Robert Wing. He has 6 grandchildren. His ashes shall be returned to the earth and his last wish was for no flowers. Make a tax deductible donation to hospice if so inclined. Live long and prosper!
