Richard Paul Auger, 88, of Kissimmee, Florida passed peacefully in his sleep on December 1, 2025 in the company of his loving wife of 64 years, Patricia (Levesque) Auger.

Richard was born August 20, 1937 to Leo and Melina (Goulet) Auger in Putnam, CT. He grew up in East Boston, MA.

He joined the US Air Force in 1955 during the Korean War. He served for over 20 years including a 1 year tour in Vietnam as well as fifty three flight missions from McChord AFB to Vietnam. He continued his service in many capacities until his retirement in 1975.

In 1961 Richard met the love of his life at the Revere rollerskating rink. A short 6 months later, they were married and settled into their new life overseas in England to start their journey together. Their family increased by four daughters in the next 9 years.

After several stations in the US and abroad, it was time to retire in 1975. He moved his family to Salisbury MA to be near extended family.

Following his military retirement he joined the Post Office and continued there for 17 years. During this time, he and his wife made many friends through the community and close neighbors, while enjoying square dancing and camping. Many weekends were spent with extended family hosting Sunday dinners, pool parties and various get-togethers. The Auger household was always a place for friends and family to land.

In 1988 Richard and his wife made a commitment to become foster parents for children in need in MA. They fostered 125 children over 13 years, making a significant impact on many of these children.

In 2001, they made the decision to sell the family home in Massachusetts, set up roots in Brooksville, Florida and travel North during the summer in their RV. They did this for nearly 20 years until the last few years proved to be difficult with their age and health restrictions.

They recently relocated to Kissimmee, Florida to fulfill their dream to be closer to her sister’s family and Disney World.

He could be found creating art in ceramics and photography. He and Pat’s dancing abilities were the envy of anyone at any occasion they attended. He was a hard worker, dedicated to his family and would give you the shirt off his back.
