Robert L. Giannetti, of Spring Hill, Florida, formerly of Springfield, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at the age of 85.
Born on February 12, 1941, to Nicholas Giannetti and Claire Sullivan, with whom he shared a close and loving bond throughout his life. He was also grateful for the many years and memories he shared with his stepfather, Antonio “Tony” Daniele, who played an important role in his life.
Robert proudly served in the United States Navy. He later worked as General Manager for DiPietro-Kay Industrial Marine Corporation until suffering a massive stroke that would change the course of his life. True to his character, Robert refused to let the stroke define him. Through determination, strength, and resilience, he overcame incredible challenges and went on to live a fully independent life.
Robert was known for his humor, charisma, and unmistakable charm. He had a way of making people laugh and brought warmth and personality everywhere he went. Even through life’s difficulties, he continued to face each day with determination and a strong spirit that those around him admired.
For more than 20 years, Robert made his home in Spring Hill, Florida, where he enjoyed the warm weather, tending to his yard, flowers, and spending time with his good friends and neighbors.
In his later years, Robert was surrounded by the love and support from family and friends. He shared a special closeness with his granddaughter Bridget and her husband Rodney, whose compassion, care, and support brought him great comfort.
He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Robin Giannetti Hamel; his son, Robert Giannetti Jr.; his sisters, Carol Giannetti Ashe and Sharon Giannetti Miller; his brother, Richard Giannetti.
He leaves behind his loving sister, Susan Appleton, and her husband, Pete, with whom he had a special bond. Robert was a devoted football fan and especially loved the New England Patriots. He cherished his visits to their home on Cape Cod, and the many phone calls they shared talking about the Patriots, family, and life. He also leaves behind his beloved daughter-in-law Janet Giannetti and cherished grandchildren Bridget, Jenna, Robert, Ken, and Ryan; along with many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
Robert will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
