Robert Michael Munn, 78, of Spring Hill, Florida, passed away on September 18, 2026, leaving behind a family who loved him beyond measure and a lifetime of memories that will forever be cherished.

Robert was born in the Bronx, New York, son of Lucille Kaufman. He was one of six children, alongside his siblings Maureen, Marjorie, Linda, Ricky, and Susan. He was preceded in death by his siblings Linda, Ricky, and Susan. He is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Robert proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Navy. He later worked for the New York City Board of Education, where he dedicated many years of his life before eventually making his home in Florida.

Above all else, Robert was a family man. He is survived by his daughter, Michelle Van Ness, and her husband, AJ Van Ness; his grandchildren, Dylan Van Ness and Courtney Pinkerman, Kayla Van Ness and Tyler Arcidiacono, and Brandon Van Ness, who is proudly following in his grandfather’s footsteps by serving our country in the United States Navy; and his beloved great-grandchildren, Coley, Joey, McKenna, Dylan Jr., and Presley.

Robert found happiness in the simple things that made life meaningful. He loved watching sports and was a devoted fan of the New York Yankees, New York Jets, and New York Rangers. He enjoyed gardening, taking on projects around the house, and could always find something that needed to be built, fixed, improved, or cared for. Music also held a special place in his heart, particularly Elvis Presley and The Beatles.

But what Robert loved most was spending time with his family.

He especially loved the holidays and believed they were meant to be spent together. He made sure his family gathered around, creating traditions and memories that will continue for generations. To Robert, being together mattered, and the people he loved always came first.

Robert was the person you could call when you needed help, advice, reassurance, or simply someone to listen. He was always there for anyone in need, no questions asked. Wise and intelligent, he somehow always seemed to have a solution. He offered comfort when it was needed, encouragement when things felt difficult, and guidance that his family will carry with them for the rest of their lives.

To his family, Robert was so much more than a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and veteran. He was our best friend. His love, wisdom, support, and example helped shape us into the people we are today. The impact he made on our lives cannot be measured, and the lessons he taught us will continue through the generations that follow him.

The world will not be the same without him. He was deeply loved, and he will be deeply missed, but the love he gave so freely and the memories he created will remain with us forever.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Robert’s life on Tuesday, September 29, 2026. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., with a service beginning at 4:00 p.m. A reception will follow, with location details to be announced.
