Roy Waymon Cox

July 24, 1950 — May 27, 2017

COX, ROY WAYMON, 66, Spring Hill, passed on May 27, 2017 after a battle with cancer. A native of Memphis, TN, Roy was born to the late Windon Lee and Adean (nee Barnett) Cox, Sr. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps having served his country during the Vietnam War. Roy was Lutheran by faith and he was a member of the Marine Corps League, Detachment #708. Among other things, he enjoyed being a craftsman, working outdoors, and playing card games, especially Uno. His family describes him as an all around wonderful guy who would give you the shirt off his back. Roy was the devoted husband of Melissa (nee Busche); loving father of Jeffery (Tanya), Shirley (Robert) Guerrieri and Jennifer (Chris) Mikita; cherished step-father of Brittany Busche and Amanda Jones; proud grandfather of Alexis and Jeffery Cox, Charles Helfert, Robby and Jeremy Guerrieri, and Kayla and Megan Mikita; proud great-grandfather of Brayden Cox; treasured brother of Linda (Larry) Williams, Bonnie Gaedt, Gerrie (Bruce) Nechuta and the late Windon L. Cox, Jr. Also left to cherish his memory are many friends and his beloved dogs: Benjamin, Rascal, and Kendra. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations be made to SPCA of Hernando County, 9075 Grant St, Brooksville, FL 34611, (352) 596-7000. Friends may gather on Tuesday, June 6 from 11:00 AM concluding with a service celebrating his life at 12:30 PM. Following the chapel service, A graveside service with Military Honors rendered by Marine Corps League, Detachment #708 will take place at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell at 2:30 PM.
