William (Bill) H. Fawcett DDS
Dr. Fawcett passed away on May 18, 2025, in Spring Hill, Florida. He was born in Racine, Wisconsin on April 30, 1931, to Dr Arnold M. and Ellen H. Fawcett (nee Hales). He spent most of his life in Racine and was aa graduate of Horlick High School in 1949. He also attended Beloit College, Marguette University and was a graduate of Loyola University in Chicago. He studied Dentistry at the Chicago College of Dental Surgery and belonged to the PSI Omega Fraternity. Following his graduation, Bill served as Lieutenant in the US Naval Reserves. He did two years active duty and six years in the Reserves.
Bill practiced Dentistry in Racine for 40 years. He was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church in Racine since 1943 and recently a member of Mariner Church, Spring Hill, FL. He was also a member of Kiwanis International and in the Kiwanis Club of Racine with 36 years of perfect attendance. He was also a distinguished Post President 1985-1986 and a distinguished Lieutenant Governor 1995-1996 at the Racine Club in Grand Forks, ND.
One of Bill’s joys was playing the trumpet since the 7th grade and played with the Drum and Bugle Corp through High School while also playing in the school orchestra and concert bands. He was a trumpet soloist for 33 years. He was a member of the Racine Concert Band since 1971 having served as President and Trumpet Soloist. He retired from the band in 2006. Bill was also a member of the Racine County Club since 1962. Since retiring from his dental practice, he performed trumpet hymn solos in several churches in Wisconsin and Florida.
In July 1962, he married Patricia Jane Snook who predeceased him in 1995. In January 1997, he married again to his loving wife Laverne Elaine Dremel. Together, they have spent the last years of their lives living in Brooksville, Florida and Racine, Wisconsin.
Survivors include Daughter Barbara J. Wyche, Granddaughter Kristina P. Wyche, Kelly Diem and James Diem. Also surviving is his cousin Joanne Kelly and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Since High School, Bill’s became interested in Antique cars and actually drove a 1930 model A Ford. His favorite vehicle is a fabulous 1934 Ford convertible. The car used to be sold for $300 and now costs over $35,000.
In addition to cars, he loved to watch WWII action movies. His Dad would bring him home newspaper war maps showing German and British Troop movements in 1942. His Favorite movie was “Wake Island” which he watched 152 times. His wife would tease him and say, “I’m so glad you finally found out who won the war”.
Any Memorials should be directed to Mariner United Methodist Church, Kiwanis Foundation of Racine or to the Racine Municipal Band.
